People of Salt & Light is a collection of sermons written by Methodist minister Rev. Lyman H. Kirkwood between 1968 and 1991. Rev. Kirkwood, who graduated from Georgia Technical Institute with a Chemical Engineering degree, had a successful career in the energy sector for over a decade before he found himself searching for something deeper than the quintessential American Dream he had attained. In 1966 he left the secular world behind to follow a new path; one that would lead to "a wider, deeper, longer, higher image of what it means to be human". Lyman founded one church in Orlando, Florida, and served as a pastor for four others during his time with The United Methodist Church.
