Penny From Heaven, Book 2 in the Northwoods Adventures Series. Sheriff's Deputy Nate Sweeney rushes to save wildlife biologist Penelope Scott from elk poachers, but can he save his heart? This description may be from another edition of this product.
This story is Book 2 in the Northwoods Adventures and continues in the little town of Atlanta. The story centers around Nate Sweeney and a girl named Penny. Penny had a traumatic event happen in her past that has caused her to hate men, especially in uniform. She works for the Department of Natural Resources DNR) and they have transferred her to Atlanta, Michigan to study the elk. She has had a really bad morning because she is suppose to show up at her job and her car broke down several times then because she was late she was going above the speed limit when none-other-than Nate Sweeney pulls her over. They have a very clever exchange at which he gives her a ticket and lets her go on her way. For some reason, Nate can't get Penny out of his head and he runs into her everywhere. She becomes fast friends with Emma and then Rhonda. She finally confides in Emma about her past and Emma encourages her to tell Nate but Penny doesn't think she can. In the meantime Penny comes across some evidence of poaching. She reports it to her new boss who is very cold and condenscending toward her. Tells her it's just her imagination running wild. But it's not her imagination...someone is poaching and someone is following her. She should tell Nate but how can she tell him when she doesn't trust men. She doesn't want to tell Emma or Tyler because they have their hands full planning their wedding. What will Penny do? When she finally figures it out will it be too late? I loved the ending. Amy gives you wonderful dialog between the characters to the point that you just hate to put it down. You feel like you are involved in the conversation. Great book! It's a keeper for my shelf.
