Penezic & Rogina: Digitalization of Reality

This volume of The Information Technology Revolution in Architecture is dedicated to the work of the Croatian architects Penezic + Rogina, one of the most dynamic and original architectural studios on the international scene. Deeply engaged with the field of Information Technology - not only through visionary experiments but also in the concrete realization of buildings - P+R have been featured with major installations at the Venice Biennale since 2000 and have completed significant works throughout Croatia.

Nigel Whiteley (1953-2010) was a distinguished British historian and critic of art and design. A passionate advocate for socially engaged visual culture, he taught at Lancaster University, where his interdisciplinary thinking influenced generations of students. His key publications include Reyner Banham: Historian of the Immediate Future (MIT Press, 2002), a landmark study of the influential British critic, and Pop Design: Modernism to Mod (Design Council, 1987), an exploration of design's cultural foundations in the postwar period. This volume honors a voice that consistently argued design is never neutral - it both shapes and is shaped by the society in which it exists.

Antonino Saggio is the editor and founder of The IT Revolution in Architecture, a groundbreaking series launched by Birkh user in 1999, continued by Edilstampa, and now published by Vita Nostra Edizioni. An internationally recognized lecturer and keynote speaker, Saggio has written extensively on the relationship between Information Technology and architecture, as well as on the history and criticism of modern Italian design. His monographs on Louis Sauer, Peter Eisenman, and Frank Gehry are widely known, while his study of Giuseppe Terragni - long considered a classic of Italian architectural criticism - has recently been published in English by Lettera Ventidue. With the same publisher, Saggio also created a new book series, Imprinting, devoted to leading figures in contemporary Italian architecture.
