Although I am not related to Ms. Manushkin, I can attest that this is a wonderful book for anyone, not just fathers and sons. The reltionship between the two is portrayed in a genuine and loving way. The illustrations are beautiful, and reflect the quality of the text.
A beautiful gift book on Father's Day or birthdays

My name is Barry and I am the real boy that the story was written about. My aunt Fran Manushkin writes children's books for a living, andfor the past 25 years, all my relatives have appeared in her books, but never me. So now that I have a child of my own, she finally writes a book for me! As much as I love my aunt Fran, I have to admit that the illustrations are my favorite part of the book, beautiful impressionist-like paintings of a boy and his dad out in the night looking for the source of the peeps they hear. This book will make a terrific Fathers Day present for dad to read to his child or as a birthday present for the child to explore with dad. Enjoy!!
