'Peace, Love and Chocolate: Spiritual Humour and Other Stuff' by L.Jon Lindsay (writing under the delightful pseudonym Benny Aabamadamabaa) is an excellent book to lighten your mood and enlighten you simultaneously. The author starts off with a funny title, chooses a funny pseudonym and maintains a good 'teeth-in-chocolate' humour through out the book. And certainly manages to make you wiser. Even the profoundly wise Orientals can learn a thing or two. If you are the typical chocolate loving, materialistic Occidental or for that matter westernised Misoriental, certainly this spiritual chocolate is just what the doctor prescribed! There are many pieces of profound Zen style wisdom, like 'Faith', 'A new Master', 'To Be'. And a few which really make you laugh like 'Follow the Leader', 'Oh my God, is that You', 'Guru PR', 'Getting in Touble'.Only one or two items did not make much sense to the reviewer. The piece about 'Namaste' and the Reiki bit. Both tried to get fun out of the pronounciation, but did not succeed. Understandable considering that the oriental words can't be pronounced easily by westerners. But then one need not always look for sense in everything!Having a sense of humour is good. Having a nice laugh at yourself (when someone tries to poke fun) is better. Having a good sense of humour at the whole world is best.Mystic or materialistic, the book is a good read. Only grouse is it enlightens your pocket too!!! But you knew good things in life don't come cheap ...
