At the end of Covenant, Phoenix private eye Ken McGreevey caught a bullet when two criminals confronted him on a crowded downtown street. Only, he didn't catch it from one of them-a Phoenix cop shot him accidentally.
What seems at first like a lucky "flesh wound" turns into an infection that nearly kills McGreevey, and in a fevered delirium, he flashes back to when he was 12 and found his father dead of an apparent accident.
