Patton Born Leader or Self-Choice

Great leaders are not born nor made. Great leaders are a product of life experiences and choice. Every individual possesses the ability to choose the path to follow and this defines the individual. There is no one perfect path to follow or correct choice to make as several paths lead to the top and bottom. The opportunities presented differ from one person to another based on several factors such as social class, education and prior decisions. General Patton's principles developed through experiences and choices, not right of passage through birth or teachings, define him as a great captain. General Bradley, Field Marshal Montgomery and Admiral Halsey are used as a guide to enforce and contrast the decision process in developing into a great captain. All four are great captains not for where they were born or where their education was obtained, but for the decisions, of their own choosing, that took them up and down the path to greatness.
