James and Alice are both dedicated cross-country runners. Unknown to each other, they set out from different locations in East Anglia with the intention of trail running in the Scottish Highlands. Alice plans to travel to Inverness and then run halfway down the Great Glen before cutting west and following the arduous Cape Wrath Trail all the way up to the north-western extremity of the Scottish mainland. James, on the other hand, is not so well organized. In fact, he would be happy running in any mountainous region that offers challenging slopes and beautiful scenery. All this changes when, even before boarding the northbound train, he almost literally runs into Alice. One glance and he is smitten. Is everything that follows a strange series of happenstances or are they God-incidences? Only the reader can decide.
