We are always impressed by the brevity with which God relates to us the great events of the centuries as well as of the lives of his servants. Oblivious to the Word of God is the spirit of the 21st century that boastfully magnifies certain men. It is refreshing to go back to the Word and find that there have been men chosen by God, like Paul, who, without exalting themselves, have left indelible marks for the glory of God. We do not doubt that God still has his true servants who humbly serve him in Spirit and in truth, whose names remain unknown in the world, but who will be revealed at the judgment seat of Christ. Saul consented to Stephen's death by keeping the clothes of the witnesses who stoned him. In his religion he surpassed those of his nation and was at the forefront of those who persecuted the church. In his fury against those on that "path" he chased them house to house, and dragging men and women he handed them over to prisons. In the synagogues he punished them, forcing them to blaspheme, and not satisfied with what he was doing in his own nation he began a campaign of persecution directed against believing Jews, residing in foreign cities. He traveled to Damascus to bring some from there to be punished in Jerusalem. On the road to Damascus, Saul, blasphemer, persecutor, and insulter, first of all sinners, met the Lord Jesus. Near Damascus, at midday, humbled in the dust of the road, blinded by a glory brighter than that of the sun and convicted of his great mistake, Saul was received with mercy. He accepted "that Jesus" as his Lord and began a journey that was characterized by the question, What do you want me to do? Blessed is every humble servant of Christ who, with a "good eye" and full of light, only cares about knowing and doing the will of his Lord. https: //amzn.to/2Xdtq2m
