Book Overview

Adam Baldwin, in the middle of his seventh term as a United States Senator, is at the pinnacle of his career. And he is the front-runner for his party's nomination for President at the looming Democratic National Convention. But a dark cloud hangs over his head. There is a seemingly far-fetched accusation that the candidate murdered a young woman decades before when in college. This is scoffed at by the local police, but when a suspicious explosion kills the accuser's family, the curiosity of the retired Memphis Chief of Police, Joe O'Riley, a high school classmate of Baldwin's, is aroused. O'Riley senses truth in the allegations, especially after a woman reports knowledge of the same murder. Yet, how could the man who made the accusation and this woman know such vivid details of the murder when neither was alive at the time it happened? And how could they know details of O'Riley's past known only to himself? Might all this be a link to an unsolved missing person case, O'Riley's first as a rookie cop, that had haunted him his whole career? Death and destruction stalk the couple as O'Riley jumps into the fray, determined to find out the truth before the country elects a murderer as the next President of the United States. "Past Tense" is a sequel to Bob Levy's previous work, the highly successful suspense thriller, "Broken Hearts" from Sunstone Press. Of "Broken Hearts" John Grisham said, "Bob Levy weaves a delightful tale of suspense and mystery, and the pages go flying by," and "Library Bookwatch" reported that it was "...a well crafted, exciting and suspenseful tale." He is also the author of "From the Coin's Point of View," a Roman history/short story collection.

Past Tense

This is the second book by Bob Levy. I took the book with me on a business trip and was unable to finish it on the outbound flights so I set in the airport to get to the end. Rite-on Bob.

Truly Enjoyed It!

Bob Levy has done it again--written a book I couldn't put down until I finished it, even if I had to hold a flashlight in one hand to do it (Read during a recent power outage due to a hurricane) Past Tense was original, fascinating, entertaining and intriguing. Thanks, Bob! I'm looking forward to reading more.

Levy has done it again.

Bob Levy has done it again in spades. `Past Tense' is a thrilling follow-up to his first novel `Broken Hearts' featuring the same kindly old ex-policeman Joey O'Riley. This time O'Riley is swept fifty years into the past to solve the unsolvable and keep evil from entering the White House. The trail Levy weaves makes an intensely intriguing read so do yourself a favor - don't nibble on this one unless you have time to eat it in one meal. Rus Morgan, Host Interviewer of PBS "Book Talk". A well crafted, exciting and suspenseful tale

Past Tense by novelist Bob Levy is the gripping story of Adam Baldwin, a successful seven term United States Senator and his party's front runner for President -- and who is accused of committing murder in his younger years. Joe O'Riley is a retired chief of police who was once a high school classmate of the senator, and feels compelled to investigate a cold trail of deceit. Joe is lured in a race against time to prevent the nation from possibly electing a murderer as its President. Past Tense is a well crafted, exciting and suspenseful tale. Also highly recommended is Levy's suspense novel Broken Hearts (0865343128; [cost]).

PAST TENSE

I am amazed that this is only the second fiction novel for this writer. This book captured my attention and never let go. The visual graphics displayed in his writing produced a movie in my mind. The great forensic details along with the continued personal storyline from his first book, Broden Hearts, made for a great combination. Great reading!
