A true story, Passage of an Edo Princess tells the story of Princess Iyomon. After the British displaced the Princess, along with her family and others from the Benin Royal Palace in 1897, she escaped from an arranged marriage to the Duke of Uromi, one of the lands of Benin Kingdom, and resolved to change her future. Photographs of Benin bronze works, and wood sculptures are included throughout the book to add a fuller picture of the talents and skills of the Edo people. Edo and Esan salutations and short dialogues in native language are used throughout the book for authenticity.
