Party with God: Partying is actually God's idea

Parties are actually God's idea. Loving Father that He is, one of God's great joys is to gather His children together and celebrate life with them. In the Bible, God invites the nation of Israel to come up to Jerusalem three times a year and celebrate with Him. In New Testament days, Jesus' presence at a party insured success for the host. When the wine ran out at a wedding feast, Jesus immediately produced six barrels of exquisite aged wine. When Jesus invited Himself to Zaccheus' house for dinner, Zaccheus suddenly felt led to empty his pockets and hand out money to all the people he had cheated. Martha's house in Bethany was always open for a party-just imagine being among her guests when Jesus dropped in for a Bible study. Not only did Martha serve her prized lattkes and leg of lamb but she treated her guests to the most famous speaker in Israel. What a hostess! Even when her brother Lazarus died and mourners filled her house (surely partaking of the plentiful food she set out for them), suddenly the rooms were filled with laughter and rejoicing as Lazarus walked in-alive and well because Jesus raised him from the dead. Do you want to bless family, friends, neighbors, or even your city with a great party? Ask the Lord. He has not run out of great ideas. His presence makes the difference.
