Parongate

Charlton Perone returned from his experience as a POW in Vietnam to find that he had inherited an immense fortune and a vast estate called Parongate. Charlton and his new bride go to Parongate, where Charlton hopes to learn about his biological father. It is located in the province of Saarenfeld. Saarenfeld is presented as a conservative, free-market capitalism utopia that is being threatened by an influx of corrupt government officials who want to disband this bastion of conservatism and replace it with big government liberal socialism under their control. Parongate sits like a medieval castle on twenty-seven acres of fields, orchards, and forests. The house, built in the twelfth century, holds a secret that Charlton deciphers to discover treasure left by a Knight Templar. In trying to decide how to use his newfound wealth to the greatest benefit, Charlton interacts with different factions of Saarenfeld society. Charlton finds himself at odds with the corrupt officials that are trying to effect the takeover. Romance, intrigue, and dramatic action are intertwined throughout the narrative, and after the dust of conflict settles, a happy ending ensues.
