Parker (Jason Statham) is a professional thief who lives by a personal code of ethics: Don't steal from people who can't afford it and don't hurt people who don't deserve it. But on his latest heist, his crew double crosses him, steals his stash, and leaves him for dead. Determined to make sure they regret it, Parker tracks them to Palm Beach, playground of the rich and famous, where the crew is planning their biggest heist ever. Donning the disguise of a rich Texan, Parker takes on an unlikely partner, Leslie (Jennifer Lopez), a savvy insider, who's short on cash, but big on looks, smarts and ambition. Together, they devise a plan to hijack the score, take everyone down and get away clean.
Yep, the reports of this story vary widely. This leaves you to wonder why.
There is nothing unique about this movie. But if you are a fan of revenge movies, this one is good. Parker (Jason Statham) is the person who attempts, with a little help from his friend Leslie Rodgers (Jennifer Lopez), to get that revenge; does he succeed? We get to go along for the ride.
Sometimes the secondary characters are overlooked. Billy Slaughter is excellent as an Ohio State Fair Security Guard named Ben.
In the beginning, there is a horrible, extensive number of unnecessary flashbacks, which indicates that they did not know how to weave in a back story without jumbling up the timeline.
I would say this is a fun experience except for too much noise (you may call it music) in the background, interfering with the action.
Jason Statham makes a handful of revenge movies every year. One of his best explosive stories is “The Beekeeper” (2024).
