Paris, France l954, nine years after the end of World War II. Visitors were coming to the City of Light. Many were tourists spending their vacations, but others had long-range outlooks. A new wave of expatriates became another "lost generation." A young American seeking adventure in a Europe coming to life finds himself drawn into situations that both attract and frighten him.
