ParentCraft

Parenting our children is the most important human activity. It is not easy to do and has not often been well done over the years. Knowing what to do and how to do this parenting is essential. It takes skill and is a craft. Many parents have only had their own family experiences to rely on for such training-often insufficient or unfortunately misjudged and ill-advised. Therefore, a book that provides clear, systematic, practical and effective instruction is a 'god-send' for busy, modern parents. Such a book is "ParentCraft" by Ken & Elizabeth Mellor. It is well-written, down-to-earth, and is grounded in ethical, moral and core human values.This combination of practicality plus deep wisdom makes "Parent Craft" quite unique amongst books of this type. In my work as a psychiatrist and educator (and also as a parent of 4 children, I have constantly recommended this book to clients, friends, relatives and work-shop attendees. The basic principles contained are valuable in guiding our children from conception to adulthood. Parentcraft is a clear, practical and supportive guide for everyone involved in parenting. As well as to parents themselves, I highly recommend it to those in jobs that involve caring for children, such as residential care staff and foster carers. It also provides excellent material for those who work in parent education. A Brilliant Parenting Book !!
