Parallel To Sundown

By Tyler Max Redding

A collection of poetry, writings, and photos.

This collection is carefully curated from my personal writings of the past several years, a tumultuous time-beginning with secretly receiving a terminal diagnosis at 38 years old-and culminating in a full-on spiritual awakening after the death of my father and several other loved ones in close succession.

These lines are the moments, the pain-feelings melting into words. They're everything from lulls of desperate, hopeless depression, to blazing glimmers of merciful hope. A road map through personal grief, heartache, and triumph-I hope there are some who are able to receive my message: that no matter what life throws at you, keep going. Stay in it. You are the only one who can save you, and the only thing you have is now.

I can’t leave a true review, due to having a personal connection with the author. No star-rating. I’ll simply share this quote which resonated with me as I work to heal my own trauma: The scars stay with you long after the burn; The memories live long after the turn— They’re eternal, like healing flames for heartaches; Heart breaks but evolves— (From “Scars”.) And another But how much can we know ourselves, if we never learn to burn? I stared them in the soul, but could see only my own, (From “The Shadows” Part 2.) A race of slaves who do not know their own ways! (Indecision.) Within that storm's eye, I am the eye's storm. (“Serial Wielder; Duality Dreamer”)
