Smith observes that the Apocalypse of John, when situated in the context of Roman Asia Minor, portrays the act of conquering paradoxically. He concludes that Revelation's recipients were urged to imitate the Lamb's manner of conquering, particularly by maintaining the witness of Jesus and by enduring without resorting to violence. Smith shows that the Lamb's paradoxical redefinition of conquering is a useful motif woven throughout the Apocalypse of John. This book is a modification of Smith's doctoral dissertation. DUSTIN R.
