"Once again author Beth Kery creates magic for the reader with her ability to create sensually captivating romances that are erotically thrilling and packed with a deep emotional punch. The plot is remarkable and complex, each scene masterfully crafted, each emotion real, and each character fascinating producing a flawless romance that is sure to stand the test of time. There is lushness to the beauty and the attention Ms. Kery pays to the finest details making this story comes alive to further the reader's enjoyment." 'Lana Rodriguez is a multilayered woman. She is a sexy woman with fire running through her veins and ice around her heart. She has a razor sharp demeanor that she uses to keep people at bay while inside the demons of the past battle, creating a sense of vulnerability. Used to being in control, Lana protects her emotions behind an invisible cloak, never letting any man get to close. Jason Koa is an intriguing man, full of energy and heat, and secure in his life. Clearly used to being in control, Jason isn't about to let Lana get the upper hand in any of their dealings. Seeing the vulnerability inside this woman touches something in him. It will take patience and control, something that Jason excels at. Jason's family along with additional secondary characters are interesting and delightful, helping move the story forward and bringing it full circle. The chemistry between Jason and Lana sizzles, the sex is raw, steamy, and highly graphic, yet at times tenderly touching. The added touches of sexual toys as well as blindfolds and restraints added to the heightened levels of seduction. This is a powerful story that shouldn't be missed!" - Shannon

A highly successful jazz singer, Lana Rodriguez has people grabbing for her all the time. When a friend going through a painful divorce needs her, Lana hesitates only a second and the two head for Hawaii even though Lana never thought she would return to the place of her ugliest childhood memories. Lana is constantly on her guard and very rarely relaxes. Surfing lessons with hometown hero Jason Koa only make matters worse and when she calls for a male escort for the evening and Jason arrives, Lana's anger is chillingly apparent. So is her attraction, and that is the hardest part of all for Lana - she is used to depending on herself. Jason Koa knows he and Lana started out on the wrong foot - so to speak. Hearing that Lana and her friend need male escorts for the evening is like manna from heaven. Jason will be able to apologize for their less than amiable meeting and then he and Lana can begin the scorching hot affair that he knows he wants and hopes she wants as well. What Jason doesn't imagine is the spitfire mad virago who opens her door to him. Animosity aside, Jason has never wanted another woman the way he wants Lana. He just has to convince her that underneath his good boy charm he is a man that wants to satisfy her - if only she will follow his PARADISE RULES. PARADISE RULES is steamy, raw, and may push a few buttons. To me, the hardest and most difficult part of this hot book is Lana. She had more defense mechanisms than the Pentagon. Her heart seemed frozen and she seemed to like it that way. I almost gave up on this beautiful character because her way of dealing with her burgeoning feelings for Jason were so opposite of what I would have done that I almost couldn't stand to see what would happen next. I didn't count on Jason Koa's fortitude as a man and a master who knew how to handle Lana precisely and with control that she needed. PARADISE RULES is sultry, hotter than fire, and will scorch the skin off your fingers. Lana and Jason's love story is not easy, but it is real. Take a chance on talented author Beth Kery today - you won't be sorry! Natalie S.

super romantic rustic ranch fantasy

Blues singer Ailana "Lana" Rodriguez hides her Hawaiian background because she knows first-hand from her childhood that paradise is a sham. She vowed to leave the islands the first chance she got and did. Although she prefers to never return to her home state, Lana reluctantly agrees to accompany her best friend to Waikiki on vacation after a marriage to a sleaze went sour. Lana and local surf school instructor and celebrity Jason Koa meet with each feeling the attraction between them although she transmits icy tundra at him. However, Lana wants nothing to do with the chick magnet while he makes it clear he desires her. They soon share a vacation getaway filled with passion until pictures of the pair surface that could only mean family betrayal. She wants to flee back to the mainland, but he and his kin shower her with love. This is a terrific look at the islands paradise from a different perspective; a native who escaped and loathes Hawaii. The relationship between Lana and Jason starts off colder than the polar region as she is Ms. Bitchy and he reacts accordingly. When it thaws, the heat melts the polar cap. However, a serpent in Eden may break up the couple as they fall in love because trusting men ended with the tune "Over the Rainbow" due to her late abusive father. Harriet Klausner Caleb Sarah McCarty Berkley, Oct 2009, $15.00 ISBN: 9780425230572 In Dunnesville, Montana Allie the bakery owner has the hots for rancher Caleb Johnson. Every morning, very early, he is her first customer, but though he is nice and friendly to her he seems to ignore her efforts to even get his eyebrow raised let alone a more interesting lower body part. She has tried all sorts of seductive ruses from her body to her food to her coffee, but he seems immune to her desire and charm. After a long day on her feet wearing a special bra that hurt physically and mentally failed to arouse her unrequited lover, Allie heads home when she hears a growl. Believing flight would not work she growls back to stay away or else as she holds her keys ready to poke out the potential assailant's eyes. When instead of your garden variety mugger, a wolf attacks her she kicks at its anatomy. However, as a voice in her head shouts run, she recognizes the "sounds" as that of Caleb, but her rescuer is a shapeshifting vampire. Caleb saves her from a rival werewolf pack, but knows his life mate whom he hid his deep regard for will forever live in the shadowy world he and his siblings reside in. The first Shadow Wranglers romantic rustic ranch fantasy is a terrific thriller that grips the audience even before the assault as Allie's desire adds a human element to the mix. The story line is fast-paced and the Big Sky Country seems an ideal locale for howling in heat vampiric werewolves (must be one hell of a bite). Allie makes the tale work as she learns seducing a man may be easy, but loving a vampire-werewolf takes an extraordinary female. Harriet Klausner

Beautifully Told Story Of An Island Romance

Successful blues singer Ailana "Lana" Rodriguez has accompanied her friend and personal assistant, Melanie, on a vacation to Waikiki. Melanie is weathering a very acrimonious divorce and as much as Lana hates the island, (that was once her home) she wasn't about to let her friend go alone. Melanie books a surfing lesson for the two of them and when the instructor for the school is unfashionably late, Lana (not known for patience) goes to seek him out. She finds their instructor, whom she later discovers is Jason Koa, in a very compromising position with a young blonde tourist. After a terse exchange where sparks fly between Lana and Jason, he does meet his commitment and give the women a surfing lesson. Lana had herself well camouflaged to avoid recognition, however in order to take the lesson she has to remove her big hat and cover-up. It is at this point that Jason discovers she is the famous blues singer whose music he has enjoyed for years. Lana Rodriguez is a complex heroine. She is beautiful, sexy, has a razor sharp tongue and while she keeps and outward appearance of perfect calm, she is inwardly vulnerable and insecure doing battle with many past demons. Lana is sexually experienced and has always assumed the control with her past liaisons never allowing a man to get too close. That is until Jason.... Jason "Jace" Koa, Olympian swimmer, surfing champion, local legend, restaurateur and entrepreneur, lives on a luxury houseboat moored in a private lagoon on the island. The setting is absolutely breathtaking. Jace is strong minded and completely comfortable in his own skin. He is secure and happy with his upbringing and very involved with his large, tight knit extended family. Jace also likes control and is a dominant in the bedroom. Jace has enjoyed his pick of any female he has wanted over the years but has never considered settling down or committing himself to one woman. Then along comes the prickly and seemingly cold hearted Lana Rodriguez.... After admiring their `surfing instructor', Melanie makes a joke about enjoying some male `companionship' while on the island. Lana decides that is just what the doctor ordered and arranges for male escorts for herself and her friend through what is supposed to be a `reputable' agency that is known to be very discreet with respect to its clientele's privacy. Meanwhile, Jason is at his popular restaurant "Jace's" and his cousin Ipo "Po" Koa, pays a visit. Po is a slimy little cretin who just so happens to own "Hawaiian Nights", which is the same escort service (and strip club) that Lana has called for her and Melanie's `dates'. Po brags about a `celebrity' booking an escort and Jason puts two and two together. At first he tries to ignore his desire to see Lana again, however, since the opportunity has presented itself, he decides to approach Po with an offer to step in as her `escort'. When Lana opens her hotel room door to find her paid escort is none other than the surfing instructor who

Heroine's transformation, one that includes some very erotic scenes that kept me glued to the pages!

Paradise Rules by Beth Kery Contemporary Romance- Oct. 6th, 2009 4 stars Paradise Rules demonstrates why Beth Kery is an author to watch out for! In her latest installment, she explores the journey of her heroine's transformation, one that includes some very erotic scenes that kept me glued to the pages! Lana Rodriguez has issues. When you are popular and famous people try to take advantage of you and she has had to learn the hard and painful way to protect herself and her own. When her friend Melanie is devastated by a nasty divorce Lara decides to drag her with her to Hawaii for a vacation. Once there they both decide to take surfing lesson with Jason Koa. A beautiful if arrogant playboy that annoys Lana. The tension between the 2 is powerful. But Lana and Jason's mutual dislike overlays an intense attraction. When Lana decides to boost her friend's spirits and have a girls night out she decides to call an escort service for her friend and herself. But when she opens her door she is surprised to find Jason ready to service ALL her needs! She is helpless to stop her addiction to his charms but Jason says they can only continue their affair if she agrees to `his' rules. Jason wants Lara and when he hears that his cousin's escort service latest contract is to find Lana a man, he decides to volunteer himself! As Jason pushes Lara, a woman who is used to control, he doesn't realize the powder keg he has opened. Jason is very dominant and protective. Seeing Lana's true vulnerability breaks something inside him. He wants to be the one she turns to, the one to comfort her. But her painful past prevents her from being impulsive or spontaneous. And when the tabloid releases a scandal concerning their `escorted' relationship they face hard decisions. Is this new relationship something worth holding onto? Beth Kery excels at hot and sensual scenes. At first I found Lana's character abrasive and Jason's arrogance a bit of a turn off. But as the author slowly built the tension and reveals the vulnerability in her characters I could not stop the pull I felt for the 2! Lana's childhood is scarred and I wondered if she could see through her past of pain. Lana is an intensely private person and she feels comfortable that way. And Jason's very dominant and forceful appearance in her life makes big changes for her. Lana questions her motto to keep men out of her life, but having Jason around makes her feel sooo good. Should she take a chance with Jason? Taking risk with her emotions is difficult for her. She must confront her demons and let a man be there for her when no man has before. I really enjoyed the relationship between the 2 characters, especially Lana's transformation. They were a well matched pair that were wonderful together.
