The courtyard was unnervingly quiet, despite the presence of several emergency service vehicles. Flashing blue lights illuminated the clear night sky, reflecting harshly against the townhouses that lined the short cobbled street. His partner was hastily crossing the courtyard towards him.

'Doesn't look good', he said.
'Nope', she agreed. 'And it just got even worse'.
