I've always wanted to draw woodworking tools--in my opinion, their intricate designs should be made known to people, no matter old or young. One day at last, I opened Papa's toolbox, long forgotten with disuse, and took out all the tools: the carpenter's plane, the saw, the drill... and I illustrated all their designs. After some time, these drawings came to mind, and I felt that I should add something more. That was how this small book came to be. When I was a child, Papa made me a set of mini woodworking tools. When I found the interest, I made all kinds of things with these tools, including wooden pistols and little wheelbarrows. Of course, the real tools were the big ones in Papa's toolbox. With these tools, Papa crafted the bathing basin for me when I was a newborn, then carved me little chairs and riding-horses when I grew older. Back then, Papa was young and robust and full of aspirations. Now, two generations later, his grandsons are walking the world, and Papa's handicrafts are slowly forgotten. In their places are replicas of new-age toys, endlessly manufactured in faraway factories. We say it is how the times progress. Don't we? Papa's toolbox slowly gathered layers of dust as it was used less and less; Papa's face slowly gathered wrinkles, the way time makes its mark on people.
