Thorough expose

First time author Alan Skorski proves that publishers need to open their markets up to new people, not just celebrity authors. I've watched O'Reilly and others respond to attacks from Al Franken and left wing smear sites, but never with the detail that I read in 'Pants on Fire.' Skorski gives his readers insight that nobody else could because of his countless email exchanges with Franken. Ultimately Skorski forces Franken to break down and fess up that the "article" he referred to, to smear O'Reilly over the Peabody/Polk award controversey, was not what Franken portrayed it to be in his Lying Liar Book. Skorski also goes back to debunk smears against Rush Limbaugh from Franken's 1996 best selling screed against Limbaugh. Skorski exposes the laziness of the media to swallow whatever Franken says, the very media Franken accuses of letting conservatives "get away with it." Pants on Fire accomplishes a few things: Exposes a fraud who has catapulted to Left wing stardom Exposes the laziness and culpability of the media Proves that you don't have to be a celebrity to write a good book.

Why is Franken hiding?

Because Alan Skorski, someone who is virtually unknown has expose him as a fraud. Imagine how Franken fans must feel after being told, "I hold myself to impossibly high standards" only to have a first time author so easily debunk him. From exposing who Jeremy Glick "really" is, to how David Brock works hand in hand with Franken in smearing people. Al Franken is lucky that Skorski hasn't gotten the attention that Franken has in promoting his new book or he'd really be in trouble. Great EXPOSE on the #1 Liberal fraud

As Skorski writes, it's not that Al Franken is a liar or even a lying liar, but a disgraceful fraud. Skorski shows how Franken cites sources but misleads his readers as to what these sources actually say. Example: Franken cites the Pew Charitable Trusts to prove "no liberal media bias" but as Skorski points out, the Pew Study covered a different time than Franken claims On Clintons war on terror, Franken cites a report from the Washington Post. As Skorski points out, rather diligently, the entire report was a scathing indictment of the Clinton administration. When Franken told his audience that Rush Limbaugh lied when he said that Ruth Bader Ginsburg proposed dropping Mothers Day and Fathers Day for Parents Day, Skorski provides the documentation that she indeed made such a proposal. This is a long book, but Al Franken and his sycophnat supporters do have a lot to worry about.

Better Than expected

Let me begin by saying that I am neither a conservative nor a liberal, but more of a centrist. My interest peaked for buying this book after reading exact opposite reviews for this book. How could some people give 1 star and others 5 stars? Then I realized that many of the 1 star reviewers were attacking the author for his appearance on a television show and not his book. I can also understand why these people are attacking Skorski, they're doing his targets bidding for him. Skorski has methodically dismembered Al Franken's credibilty piece by piece, sometimes in overkill. But I understand that Skorski doesn't want to give his critics any room to respond with "you didn't give the full story." From discrediting Franken's attack on O'Reilly about the Peabody awards at the Book Expo to Franken's continuous attacks on Rush Limbaugh on his "resident dittohead" segment on his radio show, it seems that if conservatives were going to sue Franken, it wouldn't have to be on a trademark violation as in the Fox suit, but actual defamation. In another chapter in his book, Skorski highlights the almost verbatim analysis of Fox News that Franken writes compared to the FAIR report put out 2 years earlier. According to Skorski, Franken's chapter borders on plagiarism. Some of his chapters are actually pretty funny especially his sections dealing with Franken's radio ratings and his failures to rally his listeners. His chapter on Franken's attacks on Rush Limbaugh and the Donovan McNabb controversey was dead on. There is much much more, but it is obvious that the 1 star critics only objective is to hurt sales of this book, not honest criticism.

Shrewd Marketing

My five stars are really for the Al Franken video that advertises his book with physical violence against right-wingers, and also for Mr. Skorski's recognition that those same right-wingers will buy anything that repudiates liberal authors. It's hilarious that Skorski's book apes Franken's cover design and was published at almost the same time. How calculated and opportunistic. Judging from Skorski's short bio, he doesn't need the money, so his rebuttal to Al's book should provide some nice gravy. Two good points about Al: he started giving the right a taste of their own medicine way back in 1995 with Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot; and, he went to Iraq to entertain our troops. I wonder how many right-wing entertainers can say the same?
