The measure of love is what one is willing to give for it. - Geoffrey Fielding

I know this is not a Pressburger movie, but it could have been.
Director: Albert Lewin
Writer: Albert Lewin (story and screenplay: suggested by the Legend of the Flying Dutchman)
Van der Zee (James Mason) means "of the sea" in Dutch, comes from a tale we all know well. He meets Pandora Reynolds (Ava Gardner), a girl to die for. But that is not what happens. Ava looks slippery when wet.
Interesting style with narrations, Ayn Rand-type speeches, and Shakespeare-type siliques. There are lots of close-ups and stills. A dash of flashbacks, but not too many.
Warning - as this is included among the "1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die", edited by Steven Schneider. So, if you do not watch it, you can live forever. Oops, too late.
