Pain is a Stimulus is a book chronicling a specific form of adversity and oppression I faced as a child. This adversity began in the city of Dayton, Ohio through intentional neglect, abuse, hoarding, and starvation at the hands of my own mother. Each night I slept on the floor next to rodents, and prayed for deliverance from my circumstances. The result of this abuse profoundly impacted me socially, emotionally, and academically. As I grew in understanding, I came to the conclusion that education would be the vehicle I used to escape the toxic environment.
