Undemanding whodunnit

This is a well-constructed undemanding story about Kate Ivory, a writer of historical romances living in Oxford (England), who finds herself involved again in some dark deeds. The story has no violence or sex except by inference, but some sharp characterisation of the rather odd people that live and work in the famous university. There are also some erudite references which, if you pick them up, will give you a glow of pleasure at your own cleverness, but if you don't will not cause a ripple in the smooth passage of the story. I'm going to find some more of her books. Definitely good for a short air trip, or on the beach.
