Nearing the final edit of my book, I broke down and cried. Once again, I was struck by the sheer difficulty of my journey toward restoration. Overcoming the destructive wounds of my childhood years has been anything but easy. I understand why so many never recover-it's too painful to face, too overwhelming to process, and at times, too difficult to believe that healing is possible. It's easier to run, to avoid, and to deny. Tragically, many never escape their false beliefs and inappropriate behaviors, which continue to undermine their lives and relationships.
Everyone has a story, and many are far more harrowing than mine. Yet, I felt it was still important to share my story for those who are still searching for hope and healing. There is more for your life, and you must hold strongly to this belief, no matter how long it takes. If you were broken, betrayed, or hurt in your early years or at any other time in your life, know that you can get better. You are not alone, nor are you defined by your past. No matter how dismal, disappointing, or destructive the days have been, there will always be more light beyond the darkness.
May this book inspire you to stay in the fight and to endure the time needed to heal. For the broken-you deserve a better life, and it can happen. Allow time to work its healing within you.
