Welcome to Pass Patrol Recollections, Volume Five. Outlaw Trails. This is a complete revision of the original volume five book from the Adventures of Pass Patrol. After moving to Colorado in 1984, I became fascinated with Butch Cassidy's Wild Bunch. I found stories written by other writers with bits and pieces of outlaw history. Those bits and pieces sparked a fire within my curiosity that grew hotter with the discovery of each new clue. After reading a book written, before I was born, by a man named Charles Kelley, that fire became a blaze. I could not find enough information by simply reading about it. I had to go there. I had to go where the outlaws went. I had to stand where they stood. In the boot prints of Butch Cassidy, Elzy Lay, Sundance Kid, Kid Curry, and dozens more. The men that lived by the gun. Many of which died because of the gun.I traveled throughout Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado and beyond. Anywhere a robbery took place, or a hideout was known to exist. I visited libraries and museums in every town along the way. I found newspaper accounts written at the time the robberies took place. I found old timers that remembered events that happened when they were young. Piece by piece, I began putting together a possible trail connecting the dots. Robberies, hideouts, and other places the Wild Bunch was known to frequent. After years of spare-time research, I finally had enough to write a book. It was time to collect everything I had and put it between two covers.I knew there would be more to come, but there must be a starting point. For me, that stating point began when I published my book called In Search of The Outlaw Trail. Due to my age, the search is over for me. This book is a new starting place for another generation. For someone else who feels that blaze in their curiosity.Welcome to Pass Patrol Recollections, Volume Five. Outlaw Trails.
