This book is three short novels by Ernest Haycox from the very beginning of his career. They were originally published in 1926,27, and 29 by the publishing houses of Doubleday, Doran and Company, and Street and Smith, so they are considered "pulp" magazine stories. Renegade Law, Ambushed, and Rimrock and Rattlesmakes--each one is a tale of great adventure. Ernest Haycox never made the "big" money that Zane Grey did for his stories, but he was published in the "slick" magazines of the day because the editors recognized his genius. And with each story or novel he stretched the boundries of what the magazine editors thought was acceptable as "serial" novels. That is why today he is considered the man who elevated "westerns" to a proper place as literature.
