Arriving at the police headquarters in Darwin during the 1960s, Constable Laurie McKenzie is surprised to learn she will be the first policewoman appointed to the Northern Territory Police Force. Transferred to the outback town of Rabbit Creek, she and Senior Constable Gordon Johnson deal with murders, a paedophile, domestic violence, and crocodile poachers as she strives to earn the respect of the townspeople and her male colleagues.
