Out of the Shadows and Into the Light: Are You a Agent of Change

This poetry book is work from the 8th grade community at Monarch Academy, Glen Burnie MD from the year 2017. Our goal was to create a poem based on experiences that we had during the different case studies within our Fall Expedition: Are You An Agent Of Change? Every 8th grader was a part of this process. We wrote the poems. We edited them. We created student-made art to connect our poems and case studies. We formed a publication team to compile and publish them. We are finally able to make this happen with each and everyone's creativity and influence. Topics that are included in this book are the Industrial Revolution (including Child Labor), World War I, the Holocaust, and the Rwandan Genocide. We wanted to be able to show our high quality work to others outside of our community and what poetry really means to us.Thank you, and we hope you enjoy!
