Out of Season

By Steve Brock

I've surrendered your plates

summoned the wreckers

now let me pull just one last poem

from your remains.

Steve Brock's third volume of poetry travels across place and time, from a backyard in Adelaide to the literary cafes of Buenos Aires. Conversational and restrained, the collection unfolds against a backdrop of grief, revealing everyday life with tenderness and wit. In dialogue with a cast of poets and friends, these poems draw on references across traditional and contemporary literature - as well as art, culture, philosophy and language. Sometimes wistful, sometimes wry, Out of Season is a rich collection from an accomplished Australian poet.
