Colorado college student Alexandra Dare didn't mean to steal the magic pocket watch from the Mage of Ellifer while he seduced her in a dream. After all, she had just discovered she was a were-dragon, part human and part dragon, and she had no idea how to use her new draconic powers. Now, her accidental possession of the pocket watch is the only thing keeping the Mage from returning to Avalon to reclaim Excalibur, so he can conquer not only earth and Avalon, but all the known dimensions.

The Mage of Ellifer is not the only one who wants the new were-dragon dead, however. The Knights of the Round Table have taken an Oath to eradicate all Hybrids like Alexandra who pose a threat to the human race. Deciding that Alexandra is too dangerous to let live, rogue members of the Round Table try to assassinate her while she is imprisoned in the Table's underground cells.

With the Elves of Avalon enslaved by the Mage of Ellifer via a mystical zombie virus, Alexandra is called upon to join forces with other Hybrids to battle the army of Profane undead the Mage is raising on earth. Struggling to harness her new draconic abilities, Alexandra finds she must also reconcile herself to the fact that her own father is a Knight of the Round Table, along with the oh-so attractive Sir Lance Corbin.
