Our People, Our Story is a three-volume set of books that has been several hundreds of years in making. The works are not just the Bloodline History of our tribe but many individuals who are at a loss to prove what their heart knows. They Are Indian. Are they Cherokee, Shawnee, or one of many other Tribes bands, or Nations? Only the bloodline can take them there. As early as 1700 the Native-Americans lived and survived here on our beloved Yadkin River and the areas surrounding it. Our people had become well aware of the settlers wanting to expand and take over our lands and this was true event; even to the point of killing us to do achieve their land seizure. The fact Indians were less than slaves to many of the whites served to fuel that fire and forced many of the Indian traders to amalgamate into the white culture or lose everything they had built for themselves and their families. For many, this was not a difficult transition; simple forbid the elders, parents and so forth to ever mention that they were Indian.
