"As her parents restore an old house, a young girl hears stories about the people who used to live there, and she imagines what their home was like... . Dreamy, light-filled watercolor paintings... This description may be from another edition of this product.
If you've ever walked through an old house and wondered who lived there before you, this book is for you. From its beginning with a wisteria vine curling around a post on the front porch to the end, this is a gorgeous and well-written book that will appeal to young readers and their parents and grandparents. Vizurraga demonstrates a true gift for the written language as she tells the story of an old house with a new family and a visitor from the past. Baker's lush watercolor illustrations are the perfect compliment for this story that grew from the Commerce, Georgia author's own experiences living in and renovating a Queen Anne cottage built around 1908. I love this book and include it among my all-time favorites. I recommend it to all readers who love well-written children's books and old houses.
