The sun was shining brightly, there was a warm breeze blowing in off the lake and the chapel was small and cozy. As I stood with my best man and the Navy Chaplain, all of us in our dress uniforms, my anticipation was off the chart and my pulse rate must have been peaked out.
As I looked down the aisle of the chapel, I was completely overwhelmed with a deep, deep sense of love as my beautiful Darlene started walking toward me on her father's arm. That was the day that we were married by man's law, repeated our vows, and the Chaplain said these words, "What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder." (Matthew 19:6) In reality, God had joined out souls in marriage three years earlier.
As I now look back on that beautiful day over forty-four years ago, I can see how God's presence in our marriage has not only kept our relationship loving and strong, but it has also galvanized us into an unbeatable team as we dealt with the many difficult challenges life has poured on us.
We're going to share with you what we've learned over those years and how we came to embrace God's love, how He became the center of our marriage, and how we accepted His strength and guidance to weather those storms.
