This is a family history of some immigrant midwestern farmers and their wives. Having heard about plenty of available land, they left their homes across the Atlantic for the unknown here in America. Many came during the mid 1800s looking for land to farm and call their own. They were searching for a free country in which to raise their children. The Wellensieks and Pohlmanns, and their wives' families, the Kampeters and Moellers, came from an area in Prussia (present day Germany) known as Westphalia.
