Technology will unite us. It will save humanity. This was what the old world believed, and instead, it sparked a war that pitted humanity against one another on the basis of political belief. All that remains is Cumberland, a city of peace and productivity, ruled by the God, Fortis.

But Patrick Franklin wonders why every citizen lives with so little but appears to be so content. So obsessed with freedom but exists in a prison of routine and service. The only one who sees this paradox, the only one asking questions.
