General Burn Loeffke, Dr. Xu Renliang and Marc Loeffke have done an outstanding job of illustrating commonalities between U.S. and Chinese people through their book "Our America, Our China." This engaging anthology of twenty-six stories and personal experiences, while admittedly not your standard, scholarly analysis, provides a valuable read for the new student of China in the U.S. or his or her counterpart in China. I would especially recommend this book to students planning to study abroad (either direction)as well as to tourists heading to China for the first time.

As the authors state, the words in many primitive languages for stranger and enemy are the same.
