I am a student of computer engineering and have been interested in the science of sound and music for along time. This book gives a straightforward description of the science of sound with a bit of history. Also, the book is geared towards engineers and engineering students so it is not really written for anyone but at the same time the technicalities are simple enough for anyone with a few years of math and physics background to understand. I really enjoyed this book and although not so recent, it does well in explaining the majority of the physical phenomena of sound that have not changed over time.
