OTHERWORLD, novice writer Shinichi Aizawa's entry into the competitive world of manga production, proves to be an unexpected hit. Then things go off the rails, when a cataclysmic thunderstorm catapults Shinichi and artist Midori Kano into a world which appears to mirror that of the series.

The bewildered pair arrive at a slightly ramshackle palace, where Shinichi is promptly mistaken for a legendary hero who had defeated the Great Dragon 200 years prior. The creature is on the verge of awakening from its centuries long sleep and the dazed writer is dispatched to prevent it renewing its campaign of destruction..

On their reluctant journey, the pair gain the aid of a tone-deaf harpy 'diva', a motherly giantess, a boisterous tiger warrior, a resentful feline noble, and an obliging dullahan trader. They also discover that their progress is being closely followed by an unknown foe who possesses an advanced technology that should not exist in this world.

And, as they travel, the mirror begins to show cracks. While much of this new world seems familiar from the manga, unexplained discrepancies begin to arise to complicate their unwanted task. The party begin to question both their assigned quest and themselves. Appearances are, it seems, never what they seem.
