Otherworld: Book One: Storm

By Mark Barnard

ISEKAI -- CATAPULTED TO A STRANGE WORLD

OTHERWORLD, novice writer Shinichi Aizawa's entry into the competitive world of manga production, proves to be an unexpected hit. Then things go off the rails. The appearance of a talking fox amid a cataclysmic thunderstorm launches Shinichi and artist Midori Kano into the world of the manga.

There, Shinichi is mistaken for a legendary hero who had vanquished the Great Dragon 200 years prior. The creature is on the verge of awakening from its long sleep, and the unwilling writer is dispatched to prevent the creature's return. Escorted to the border of the realm under an armed guard, Midori's hopes of a quiet escape are nearly filed, and off they go.

On their reluctant journey, the pair gain the aid of a vainglorious but hopelessly tone deaf harpy 'diva', a motherly giantess, a boisterous tiger warrior, a resentful feline elite, and an obliging dullahan trader. But not all is as it seems. They discover their progress is being closely followed by an unknown foe who commands advanced technology that should not exist in this world.
