OTHERWORLD, novice writer Shinichi's Aizawa's entry into the competitive world of manga, proves to be a surprising hit. Then things go off the rails. The appearance of a fox amid a cataclysmic thunderstorm catapults Shinichi and artist Midori Kano into a world which seems to mirror the series.

Apologizing for the inconvenience, the fox leads them to a slightly ramshackle palace. There, Shinichi is mistaken for a legendary hero who had defeated the Great Dragon 200 years prior. To their horror, they are promptly dispatched to prevent the creature's reawakening. An armed escort to the border neatly blocks Midori's plan for them to slip away and find a way back to Osaka.

On their reluctant journey, the pair gain the aid of a vainglorious harpy, a giantess, a boisterous tiger warrior, and a dullahan trader. They also discover their progress is being closely followed by an unknown foe using technology that should not exist in this world.

And, as they travel, the mirror begins to show cracks. While much of this new world seems familiar from the manga, unexplained discrepancies begin to arise. Appearances are never what they seem.
