Organosilicon compounds are organometallic compounds containing carbon-silicon bonds. The associated science to their synthesis and characteristics is called organosilicon chemistry. Being colourless, combustible, hydrophobic, and air-stable, the majority of organosilicon compounds have characteristics with common organic molecules. A non-organic substance is silicon carbide.Many commercial goods contain organosilicon compounds. The most popular silicone-based coatings, antifoamers, caulks (sealant), adhesives, and sealants are. Adjuvants widely employed with fungicides and herbicides in agriculture and plant control are other crucial applications.Although there are no carbon-silicon bonds in nature, enzymes have been utilised to synthesise artificial carbon-silicon bonds in living bacteria. On the other hand, diatoms have been found to contain silicates. A pyrethroid insecticide known as silafluofen is an organosilicon chemical. There are several organosilicon used as pharmaceuticals.
