Organisational Dignity

Dignity is a topic primarily discussed in philosophy when referring to human beings. Within the context of organisations, discussions have mainly centred on dignity in the workplace and the dignity of workers. Efforts have been made to conceptualise what constitutes organisational dignity. The aim of this study was to identify the practices, attributes and values relating to organisational dignity within a financial institution, as perceived by its employees. The research was conducted at a private bank and is classified as descriptive-exploratory, using a quantitative method. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire on practices, attributes and values relating to organisational dignity, developed and validated by Teixeira et al. (2011). The non-probabilistic sample consisted of 103 valid cases. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics and parametric and non-parametric techniques. The results were compared with a study involving Brazilian workers and the bank employees in this study.
