This book presents a systematic study on the synthesis, growth, characterization, and radiation effects of organic and semi-organic single crystals developed for nonlinear optical (NLO) applications. High-quality crystals were grown using the low-temperature slow evaporation solution technique. The work includes organic crystals such as (R)-2-cyano-N-(1-phenylethyl) acetamide, 5-chloro-2(3H) benzoxazolone picrate, and 2',3'-di-O-acetyl-5'-deoxy-5-fluoro-N4-(pentyloxycarbonyl) cytidine, along with semi-organic potassium hydrogen phthalate (pure and sodium thiosulphate doped) and ammonium dihydrogen phosphate crystals. Structural, optical, thermal, dielectric, electrical, and mechanical properties were analyzed using XRD, FTIR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, thermal analysis, SEM, conductivity, and microhardness studies. Second harmonic generation efficiency was evaluated using the Kurtz and Perry method. The influence of Co-60 gamma and 80 MeV nitrogen ion irradiation on optical transparency, dielectric behavior, conductivity, and SHG efficiency was systematically investigated.
