Ordinary Hero is the story of Anabar, a young man who dreams of leaving home to seek adventure. He is not wealthy; he has no royal blood; he has no magical abilities; and he is not physically gifted. However, he does possess determination and sets a goal of joining the Scouts, a secretive band of elite warriors.

Under the harsh eye of Omalof, his mentor, Anabar faces months of brutal training involving weapons, spying, survival, and mountain climbing. While physically tough enough to make it as a scout, Anabar worries that he might not have the courage to fight and even kill if called to do so and has serious doubts about a coming war.

Despite this, Anabar senses he is destined to become a Scout and is determined to succeed at his final, most difficult and dangerous test, which could cost him his freedom or even his life.
