Optimus and Stephanus

Optimus was a hard living, hard drinking Roman legionnaire until he guarded an old tentmaker who converted him to belief in Jesus. He tries to help get a Christion emperor on the Eagle Throne. Through Claudius to Domitian he works bring belief in Jesus to the fore. The heir of Domitian, his nephew is a believer and it looks as it might happen. Disaster strikes and he's exiled to the island of Patmos. In Stephanus, the oldest son of Optimus is sent to the arena to be executed for the crime of his father. He survives in the arena and becomes a part of the imperial household. His younger brother leaves to join the legion and tries to survive attacks by the Germans, revolt and invading enemy territory. Optimus becomes a scribe for the Apostle Paul and makes copies of his letters and Apocalypse to believers throughout the empire. Domitian becomes unhinged as emperor and is beset by many enemies. All Christians pray that his nephew will replace him and bring peace to the empire.
