Large-scale airport infrastructure projects represent some of the most complex portfolio programs globally, requiring coordination across regulatory compliance, sustainability targets, digital transformation, and financial governance. This dissertation investigates the optimization of hybrid project management strategies using three Saudi Arabian airport megaprojects case study: King Abdelaziz International Airport (KAIA), Red Sea International Airport (RSI), and Prince Mohammad bin Abdelaziz International Airport (PMIA). Airports represent highly complex infrastructure systems where cost, schedule, sustainability, and technological performance must be optimized simultaneously. Traditional Waterfall and Agile methodologies offer benefits but face limitations in high-complexity, high-stakes environments. Hybrid PM, combining structured planning with iterative adaptability, is increasingly promoted as an effective governance framework (Conforto et al., 2016; Shenhar et al., 2001).
