Late summer, Edinburgh, following the random passing of a young man, her metaphysical suspicion of the ultimate cause rests on her heritage. She, as a young art student, doesn't belong to any particular political or philosophical school of thought, so this lack of foundation turns to leading literature and also reverting to science; also, this makes her a self-critic, where she conducts a live autopsy of her art in the book, writing thoughts with the aids of an uncanny series of interwoven quotes to enable her own responses. It is as if a polygraph is playing a part and the mood is sometime optimistic but other times rather noir angst creates this metaphysical thriller. Vardoulaki is both romantic and also practical and explores prospect of the issue at hand to find meaning or justified place for the practices of art in her own life.
