Patient safety is the result of all measures aimed at protecting patients from avoidable harm. However, effective risk management is required in order to successfully protect patients. The surgical safety checklist represents a significant milestone in protecting patients and preventing errors. The aim of this study is to evaluate and analyze the practicality of the safety checklist using the example of a standard care hospital with 144 systematic beds and approximately 3,500 operations per year, based on a descriptive evaluation, and to use this to identify specific recommendations for action.
