Opening to Climate Grief: A Workbook Companion to Hold Fast

By Wendy Sarkissian

Climate grief is real. It has a name, a shape, and a literature. And now, for the first time, it has a workbook.

Opening to Climate Grief: A Workbook Companion to Hold Fast is the structured companion to Wendy Sarkissian's memoir, Hold Fast: Navigating Personal and Climate Grief with a Reconciled Heart. Where Hold Fast tells the story, Opening to Climate Grief gives you the practices: directed writing exercises, body-based prompts, and structured, embodied reflections drawn from fifty years of community engagement practice and environmental ethics.

Wendy Sarkissian PhD is one of Australia's most decorated environmental ethicists, a Life Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia, and a pioneer of climate grief work. She knows from fifty years of practice that grief - personal or planetary - cannot be thought away. It must be lived through, honestly, and with support. This Workbook provides that support.

You do not need to have read Hold Fast to benefit from using this Workbook, though the two are designed to be read together. You only need to be someone who loves the Earth, who is grieving what is being lost, and who is ready to move through that grief - not away from it, but all the way through it - toward the reconciled, engaged life on the other side.
